“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”
Casablanca is one of those classical films that you know the quote but have never seen the movie. A story of true love. What more could a hopeless romantic wish for??
I popped this one on my bucket list because I’ve always said I wanted to watch it but never quite got round to it. There was always something else to do. No time for a classic film.
What’s it about?
Rick a seemingly selfish but charming man runs into an old love, the one that broke his heart, and her husband. Well they run TO him act. Her husband is a resistance fighter. Both are running from the nazis and desperate to get to America. Rick has the only thing that can get them there. He professes to be neutral; but shows himself to be a rebel and romantic at heart. Nazis, gambling, guns, suspense, humour – what’s not to love. I won’t spoil it too much for you.
I loved the film. It was worth the wait. Funny, interesting and timeless. The perfect rainy day film, the perfect film for when your down in the dumps and need a pick me up.
It’s on my favourites list.
Here’s looking at you, kid!
Lovely read – I loved looking after you kid. GD xx thank you both for coming over for my birthday!
